Native vs cross-platform: choosing the right approach
There’s no universally right answer, only the right answer for your product, budget and team. Here’s how we help clients decide.
When cross-platform makes sense
For most business apps (booking, ordering, account management, content) frameworks like React Native and Flutter deliver near-native quality from one codebase. You ship to iOS and Android together, with one team, and features stay in sync.
When native is worth it
Apps that lean heavily on the device benefit from going native: advanced camera work, complex animations, background processing, Bluetooth hardware or AR. So do products where every millisecond of polish is part of the brand.
Choose the stack for the next three years of the product, not the first three months.
Questions to ask before deciding
- Which device features are essential, not just nice to have?
- Do you already have web developers who could share code?
- How often will you release, and how fast must both platforms match?
- Who will maintain the app after launch?
Answer those honestly and the choice usually makes itself.
