UX patterns that actually convert in online stores
Conversion rarely comes from a clever trick. It comes from removing small doubts and small delays, one step at a time, from product page to confirmation.
Product pages answer questions before they’re asked
Price, delivery time, returns and stock should be visible without scrolling or clicking. Real photos at real scale, honest reviews and clear variant selection do more than any banner. If customers have to message you to find out when something arrives, you’re losing the ones who don’t.
Shorten the checkout
Allow guest checkout. Ask only for what you need. Show the full cost, shipping included, before the payment step. Support the payment methods your customers actually use locally. Every extra field is a reason to leave.
Customers don’t abandon carts because they’re undecided. They abandon them because something got in the way.
Speed is a feature
- Compress and lazy-load images
- Keep third-party scripts to a minimum
- Make search forgiving of typos
- Test on a mid-range phone on mobile data, not just your office Wi-Fi
